UPDATE: Juvenile charged with bomb threat at Odenville Middle School

A juvenile was arrested today in connection with a bomb threat Wednesday at Odenville Middle School.

St. Clair County Sheriff Billy Murray said Thursday that the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division made the arrest and that the suspect is being charged with making terrorist threats.

The identity of the suspect was not released because he or she is a juvenile.

Odenville Elementary, Middle and Intermediate schools were evacuated Wednesday after a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office school resource officer received a report of a note found by school personnel in a girls restroom around 10 a.m.

The note indicated the threat of a bomb, Murray said, and the appropriate action was taken by law enforcement and school personnel to safely evacuate the three schools.

The school perimeters were secured, and, after diligent search, no evidence of any type of explosives was found.

Murray said the Odenville Police Department, Odenville Fire & Rescue, St. Clair County SWAT and Pell City Police Department assisted with the search and investigation.
