Nancy Kimsey is the new administrative assistant to St. Clair Schools Superintendent Jenny Seals.
Kimsey started her new position March 23 after Vickie Peterson retired after 10 years in the same position.
Kimsey is no stranger to St. Clair County or education. She served the past 25 years as director of the Wee Care Education Program at Bethel Baptist Church.
“I am very excited,” Kimsey said. “I am excited about my new adventure. I am familiar with many people throughout the St. Clair County School System.”
Kimsey said Peterson has done a wonderful job training her.
“I can tell Vickie has been on top of her job and is very professional,” Kimsey said. “Everyone speaks very highly of her. Everybody is sad to see her leave. I hear the same comments everywhere I go, and that is that she does her job very well. I definitely have big shoes to fill.”
Peterson worked at the Central Office for the past 10 years. Prior to that, she worked at Moody High School and Moody Elementary School. All total, she spent 16 years working in the school system.
“This is bittersweet,” Peterson said Monday following the Board of Education meeting. “I have made a lot of good friends here through the years. It has been an honor and a blessing for me to work here.”
Peterson and her husband, Vince, are moving to Hamilton in North Alabama to open up a restaurant called Tollgate Café.
