PELL CITY – A Calhoun County man was arrested today in connection with the Nov. 16 fiery crash along I-20 that killed a man and three children.
Justin Wells, 34, was arrested without incident in Cleburne County Friday and charged with four counts of murder in connection with the wreck fatalities, said Alabama State Trooper Cpl. Roman Hill. Wells was transported to the St. Clair County Jail in Pell City, where he remains without bond.
St. Clair County Coroner Dennis Russell identified the victims, shortly after the crash, as Chester Earl Robinson, 43, of Birmingham, Aiasiah Porter, 2, Ne'veah Feagin, 1, and Queen Phillips, 11 months. Porter and Phillips were brother and sister. Seagin was their cousin.
Russell said all victims were pronounced dead at the scene from blunt trauma and excessive heat. The mother of Porter and Phillips was also injured in the crash. She was transported to a local hospital, treated and released.
Hill said Wells is suspected to have been driving under the influence at the time of the crash.
