Riverside mayor, City Council take oath of office

The Riverside City Council approved the holiday schedule for municipal employees during a short council meeting Tuesday.

City employees were provided 12 days for the 2019 holiday schedule, and municipal offices will be closed on those holidays.

“It’s the same holidays (as) last year, the year before and the year before that,” said Riverside Mayor Rusty Jessup.

Riverside will observe the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Tuesday, Jan. 1; Martin Luther King Day, Monday, Jan. 21; Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 18; Good Friday, Friday, April 19; Memorial Day, Monday, May 27; Independence Day, Thursday, July 4; Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2; Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 14; Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11; Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 28; floating holiday, Friday, Nov. 29, or a day the employee chooses; and Christmas, Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Jessup also announced the city’s garbage contract with Advanced Disposal was completed and signed.

“For the record, everything is the same,” he said.

The council also announced Riverside Baptist Church will hold a breakfast at 8 a.m. Sunday to honor police and first responders.
