PELL CITY -- The holiday season is a busy and stressful time, even more so when you may struggle to get basic food supplies.
For the sixth year, the Christian Love Pantry in St. Clair County hosted the Christmas in the Park Food Giveaway. Love Pantry Director Alan Foster, with the help of dozens of volunteers from the Pell City High School boys basketball teams, St. Clair Association of REALTORS, businesses, churches and willing individuals helped load 98 pounds of food per family into cars lined up through Lakeside Park.
Needy families and individuals started lining up as early as 12:30 a.m. Saturday for the food supplies after registering and qualifying for ticket vouchers.
The event was made possible by donations from area businesses, churches and generous individuals who donated food and funds to provide 350 boxes of canned goods, potatoes, ham, chicken, pork, grapes and milk. The packages donated to those in need are rationed to provide food for more than three household members.
