LEEDS/MOODY – Weather permitting, Wednesday, Sept. 5, beginning at 9 a.m., the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will perform geotechnical investigations on Interstate 20, requiring some lane closures.
The work and the resulting closures were announced in a press release Tuesday. The lane closures will be as follows:
I-20 from exit 140 to .87 miles east of Kelly Creek Road (milepost 140.11 to milepost 147.9); and
Work will begin in the I-20 Eastbound outside (right) lane followed by investigations on the I-20 ramps from exit 140 (U.S. 78 Leeds) to exit 147 (Kelly Creek Road, Moody).
Lane closures will be required in the direction of work, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., while the work is in progress.
The geotechnical operation should be completed within the period described above, dependent on weather conditions and work progress.
Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this geotechnical operation to improve Alabama’s roadways, the release says.
