TALLADEGA -- Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church at 1426 Cove Access Road, Talladega, held its annual Black History Month observance Sunday, Feb. 18, during the 11 a.m. service with a spiritual and uplifting program.

The Talladega College choir, under the direction of William Mitchell, was the musical guest and delighted the congregation with Negro spirituals, gospels and contemporary musical selections.

Victoria Terry presented a dramatization entitled “Our Mission.” The program was further enhanced by an informative and motivational speech by Talladega County Commissioner Kelvin Cunningham.

Cunningham was presented with a special presentation from the mayor of Talladega, Jerry Cooper, who spoke highly of Cunningham and praised him for his many years of service and accomplishments.

Cunningham also received a certificate of appreciation from the church and a plaque from the Talladega College choir.
