High school basketball teaser

The Victory Christian Lady Lions have won back-to-back games as they posted one-point victories over Fayetteville, 31-30, and ASD, 49-48, in overtime.

Victory Christian 31, Fayetteville 30

The Lady Lions scored the last five points of the game over the final 1:30.

Victory Christian’s Maggie Barber hit a 3-pointer to make it 30-29. After the Lady Lions held Fayetteville on defense, Margaret Frey hit the winning shot with 15 seconds remaining.

Barber led the Lady Lions with 10 points. Lindy Thompson added nine, while Frey scored five.

Victory Christian coach Mike Sheffield said Susie Weir and Sally Cheatwood were standouts on defense.

Victory Christian 49, ASD 48

At Talladega,Victory Christian was up 19-18 at halftime, but the teams finished regulation tied at 39-all.

Three Victory Christian players scored in double figures. Frey set the pace with 18 points. Barber pumped in 13, while Weir added 11.

Dee Larry scored 20 points for Alabama School for the Deaf.
