The Victory Christian Lions fell short in their quest to follow up their first win of the season with another, instead losing to Alabama School for the Deaf 50-45 on Thursday.
The Silent Warriors led 14-6 after a quarter and increased the margin to 26-14 heading into halftime. The Lions won the third-quarter scoring battle 15-10 to close the gap to 36-29.
The game was won at the free-throw line, as ASD hit 11-of-27 charity tosses, while the Lions went 5 of 7.
Victory Christian had three players score in double figures as Forest Williams, Aaron Jernigan and Dalton Luellen all closed with 11 points. Griffin Staples pumped in six, while Pate Cheatwood netted four. Abraham Sargent finished with two.
The Lions were coming off a 57-49 win over Fayetteville.
