When the 2016 football season ended, it meant no more Friday night lights for hundreds of area seniors.

But for some of them, that opportunity to shine on the gridiron is simply moving to Saturday.

Today is National Signing Day, and young athletes from Talladega and St. Clair counties are deciding where they'll spend the next stage of their careers.

Perhaps the biggest news so far today is Winterboro offensive right tackle Khalil Keith chose Baylor over Ole Miss.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound prospect most likely will play offense, but Keith has said he would be open to the Bears capitalizing on his versatility.

“I don’t mind playing either side of the ball,” he said.

Other signees are also revealing their college or university of choice, including ...

Winterboro's Clay Twymon is headed to Jacksonville State University.

The Cincinnati commit had another stellar season for the Lions. Robinson, who was selected first-team all-state in Class 4A by the Alabama Sports Writers Association, graded out at 92 percent for the year with 46 pancake blocks and 23 knockdowns.

In Pell City, four football players and one soccer player have announced their intentions, although the formal signing will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Center for Education and Performing Arts in Pell City.
