TALLADEGA -- Witches were seen out on the town Saturday morning, cackling and riding their bicycles.
The inaugural Talladega Witches ride set out from the Talladega Courthouse Square to have fun, show off and, most importantly, raise money for cancer patients.
Part of a county-wide event, the Talladega ride corresponded with another witches ride in Sylacauga, with more than 100 participants in each event. Witches and warlocks participating dressed up in their ghastliest attire and biked or walked along a pre-planned route.
Proceeds from the events will go directly to Ribbons of Hope in supporting cancer patients and their families. Ribbons of Hope Director Pat Hogge said that in the four years the organization has been in operation, it has helped 105 families continuously throughout treatment, often doing what insurance cannot or will not.
