TALLADEGA -- Talladega police are investigating the assault and attempted robbery of an Anniston woman on Alabama 21 on Friday morning, according to Lt. Jimmy Thompson.

The 58-year-old victim had pulled into the parking lot of the empty Victory Fuels station on 21 North to check a tire on her vehicle between 10 and 10:30 a.m., Thompson said.

While outside of her car, she was approached by an unknown male who demanded that she hand over whatever she had with her, she told investigators. A brief physical scuffle followed, resulting in the woman sustaining cuts to one of her arms as well as one leg.

The suspect was described as being white, in his late 40s or early 50s with brown hair and extensive tattoos on both arms. He was wearing dark colored jeans and a red Nike T-shirt, according to the victim.

After the altercation, the suspect fled the scene in a burgundy Nissan Altima, Thompson said. The victim was taken to the emergency room of Brookwood Baptist Health Center/Citizens Baptist Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.

Nothing was stolen, the victim told investigators.

As of Tuesday afternoon, no suspects had been identified and no witnesses aside from the victim had come forward.
