Talladega College recently announced new additions to its staff, including Mary Sood of Hoover as the college’s new public relations director.

“I am excited about joining the Talladega College family,” Sood said. “For over 150 years, Talladega College has been noted for its commitment to academic excellence. It has an illustrious past and an equally bright future.”

Sood has more than 20 years experience in public relations with assisting numerous nonprofit and corporate organizations. She has previously provided services to Stillman College, Jackson State University, the American Cancer Society, AARP, Rally’s Hamburgers, Jack and Jill of America, The McNealy Group, the Jackson Madison County Library and more.

Sood is a Chicago native, but said she has called many states home. She received her bachelor's degree in English from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Sood also holds a Master of Arts degree in Romance Languages from the University of Memphis. She has two daughters, Anjali and Aneesa.

The new public relations director said one of her goals is to help tell the rich stories of Talladega College.

“This is a phenomenal season for Talladega College,” she said. “We have launched three major building projects; created exciting new scholarship opportunities for students; and forged significant partnerships that will directly benefit our students.”
