TALLADEGA COUNTY -- Investigators with the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office believe at least two of the three business burglaries from this weekend  are related and could be related to another incident in the city of Talladega.

According to Sgt. Mike Jones, deputies responded to calls at a Marathon Station on Priebes Mill Road, the Dollar General Store on Stemley Road and the 77 Quick Stop near the Clay County line early Sunday.

The Priebes Mill incident took place around 1 a.m., Jones said. A window was damaged, but in this instance, the burglar did not make entry into the store.

The Dollar General was burglarized between 3:25 and 3:40 a.m., according to an incident and offense report. Again, a glass window, this one valued at $250, was broken. A suspect did make it inside this time and did $650 in damage to a safe and $300 in damage to a cigarette case but did not succeed at opening either one. Jones said it did not appear that anything had been stolen.

In both cases, the video shows a male suspect dressed all in black, with the exception of white tennis shoes. Jones said it could be the same suspect, although closer examination of the video will be required.

The suspect in the break-in at the Dollar General on Alabama 77 in Talladega at 3:20 a.m. was wearing the same type of clothing, according to a report on file with the city police.

The burglary at the Quick Stop also involved entry by smashing a glass door; in this case, three cash registers valued at $100 apiece were listed as stolen.

Jones said it was not clear if this incident might have been related to any of the others.

Anyone with information on any of these incidents should contact the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office at 256-761-2141 or the Talladega Police Department at 256-3620-4508.
