Talladega High School’s boys basketball team defeated Central Clay County 66-55 in the Class 5A, Area 10 championship game in Lineville.
The Tigers claimed their eighth area championship in 10 years, the fourth one captured away from Chuck Miller Arena.
“It was a good win for us on the road,” Talladega head coach Chucky Miller said.
Talladega held a slim 15-14 advantage in the first quarter, and led by the same margin at halftime 33-32.
The Volunteers trailed the Tigers 45-40 going into the final stanza.
Ashton Duncan led Talladega with 17 points. Chaztin Tanner contributed 14 points, and Fred Dickerson added 12. Kobe Simmon chipped in 9.
Talladega will host the loser between Alexandria and Etowah on Tuesday at Chuck Miller Arena.
