SYLACAUGA -- A Sylacauga woman was arrested on multiple counts of fraudulent use of a debit or credit card Wednesday stemming from charges allegedly made late last year.
Candace Cain King, 39, was charged with a total of five counts, according to Talladega County Sheriff’s Investigator Sgt. Mike Jones. Bond was set at $1,000 per count by District Judge Jeb Fannin; King was able to post bond and was released from the Talladega County Metro Jail the same day she was arrested, according to jail records.
Jones said King is accused of using a credit card belonging to a former employer to make four purchases from Amazon.com and to pay her Alabama Power bill between November and December 2017. The victim noticed the charges earlier this month and reported them to the sheriff’s office, Jones said.
Fraudulent use of a credit or debit card is a class C felony in Alabama, punishable upon conviction by one year and one day to 10 years in prison.
