TALLADEGA COUNTY -- A Sylacauga man is being held in the Talladega County Metro Jail on a $100,000 bond after being arrested Wednesday on a charge of robbery in the third degree.
Sylvonta Mays Jr., 32, was arrested in connection with an event just outside of Sylacauga on Nov. 14, according to Sgt. Mike Jones of the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office.
Jones said the female victim in the case met an acquaintance at a house in Sylacauga on the night of the robbery. The acquaintance asked the victim to take him and some other acquaintances to a residence in the Mill Village, which she did.
Mays allegedly grabbed her wallet from the center console of her car as she was driving to a gas station while holding a gun on her, then getting out of the car.
The wallet contained a debit card and other items, Jones said.
Robbery in the third degree is a class C felony in Alabama, punishable by 10 years in prison.
