SYLACAUGA – The Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Lunch & Learn program Thursday with a look at the state of city schools.
The program will be in the main meeting room at the Sylacauga Board of Education at 43 North Broadway Ave. from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A report on the progress toward achieving the school district’s strategic plan mission and goals will be presented by outgoing Superintendent Dr. Todd Freeman. “We will look closely at the school report card, accomplishments in the system and (take) a close look at our career and technical education programs,” said Freeman, who last week was named the next superintendent of Vestavia Hills City Schools.
Dr. Jon Segars, director of career and technical education for the Sylacauga system, will speak on those programs.
From 11:30 a.m. to noon, there will be a career technical education student exhibition, followed by lunch and the state of schools presentation at noon.
Reservations are required and include a box lunch and drink for $12.
