TALLADEGA -- Students from the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind and Talladega City Schools participated in a Special Olympics event Friday morning at Kiwanis Field on the campus of the AIabama School for the Deaf.

Students competed in events such as the 50-meter dash; softball and tennis ball throws; obstacle courses; and long jumps, among others. The winners of the competitions will earn the chance to participate in upcoming statewide Special Olympic events.

Volunteers from Jacksonville State, Troy, Talladega City Schools and AIDB helped coordinate the event.
