ST. CLAIR COUNTY -- A St. Clair County man was arrested at a safety checkpoint for allegedly possessing methamphetamine.
St. Clair County Assistant Sheriff Billy Murray said deputies arrested Kevin Quiles, 41, of Odenville.
Murray said Quiles was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and the unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
The assistant sheriff said deputies were conducting a safety checkpoint near the 5500 block of Kelly Creek Road when they encountered Quiles, who had an active warrant.
“Quiles denied consent to search,” Murray said. “Odenville Police Department’s K-9 unit was contacted, arrived on the scene and indicated on the vehicle.”
He said deputies allegedly found methamphetamine and two glass pipes in the console of the vehicle.
Murray said Quiles was arrested for the active warrant charging failure to appear in court for the alleged possession of a controlled substance, and the suspect now faces the additional charges.
