PELL CITY -- I lived in Lincoln for more than 60 years. During many of those years, when I needed help with my car or truck, I knew there was one person I could fully trust to service my vehicle and advise me on repairs as needed.
That man was John Allred. He and his wife, Pat Cook Allred, always treated customers with respect, and, in my opinion, with much professionalism.
Times change, and now John Allred and I both live in the Colonel Robert L. Howard State Veterans Home in Pell City. The difference is that I am in assisted living, but John is in a different section since he requires much assistance.
I have been able to visit with him several times when his wife was present. Though their circumstance is difficult, I have never heard either of them complain. I am writing this letter to challenge readers of this article, especially friends of John and Pat, to pray for them and let them know you care.
