MUNFORD -- Local gospel group Ray Holland and the New Boyz of Triumph will be hosting an album release celebration Saturday, Oct. 14, at 5 p.m. at Kelly Springs Baptist Church in Munford.
The event is in honor of the group’s first official album, “Keep on Running.”
“We decided to call the album ‘Keep on Running’ after a song I had written for the album,” group member Wesley Haley said. “The song talks about everyone dealing with their own daily problems, but how we all need to keep running to Jesus. It’s just about living each day as a better person.”
Haley noted that the original Boyz of Triumph disbanded, and the new group with Ray Holland was formed a year ago.
“They were together for about eight years,” he said. “Our drummer (Bruce Brown) is an original member, however.”
Band members include Haley, Brown, Ken Walker, Pastor Marvin C. James and Ray Holland.
The group was signed by Sharp Records of Atlanta. The company was founded by Tony Sharper.
The Sycamore-based gospel group describes its sound as “contemporary gospel with jazz influences,” Haley said. “We enjoying ministering to people through our music and spreading the word of Jesus because his love is real.”
The event is free and open to the public.
The Voices of Praise, of Talladega, and the James Three, of Calhoun County, will serve as the evening’s special guests.
Minister Mary Thompson will serve as mistress of ceremony.
Kelly Springs Baptist Church is at 351 Curry Station Road in Munford.
