TALLADEGA -- A man driving a Ford Escape plunged down an embankment and overturned Wednesday morning on the railroad tracks off Alabama 21 at the Haynes Street intersection in Talladega.

The Talladega Fire and Police departments responded to the scene at 9:39 a.m.

The man suffered minor injuries and was taken to Citizens Baptist Medical Center Hospital, authorities said. They contacted CSX Transportation to alert it of the railroad track being blocked to prevent trains from coming through while they worked to clear the wreck scene.

Hindman Wrecker service lifted the vehicle, using a heavy-duty wrecker, from the railroad tracks onto the bridge on Alabama 21 and then towed the vehicle from the scene. Traffic remained blocked in the area for over an hour.
