PELL CITY -- The Pell City High School Army JROTC recently won the Area 3 drill competition at Stanhope Elmore High in Millbrook.

Pell City JROTC Commander retired U.S. Army Maj. Kelly Savage said 12 Army, Marine and Air Force Junior ROTC teams from across Alabama competed in the event.

“This drill competition comprised of 14 different events in drill, color guard, academic and physical training,” Savage said.

Pell City teams finished with five first-place awards, four second-place awards and four third-place awards.

Individually, Austin Williams and Jayden Martin received a third-place award in the armed dual exhibition, Lillie Dickerson placed second in solo exhibition, Josh Arellano was second overall in physical fitness and Nash Kreitlein earned second place in academics.

Savage said this was the seventh consecutive year Pell City won the Area 3 competition.   

He said the Pell City JROTC will next host the Area 2 drill meet Nov. 3.
