PELL CITY -- The Pell City Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for “A Storybook Christmas” Parade.

Chamber Executive Director Courtney Hobson said entry forms are already trickling into her office. She said the registration deadline is Thursday, Dec. 6.

Hobson said it does not cost Chamber members anything to participate. Non-Chamber members must pay a $25 entry fee.

The annual Christmas parade is slated for 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 13. The theme is “A Storybook Christmas.” Participants will begin to line up at Pell City High School at 5. Floats must be at the high school completely assembled no later than 5 in order to be judged. All other applicants must be at the high school no later than 6.

Floats built by professionals are welcome but are not eligible for a trophy.

Only registered vehicles are allowed in the parade lineup.

The parade route will be along Cogswell Avenue, between the high school and Fire Station No. 1. Hobson said floats can be taken to Lakeside Park to be displayed directly after the parade.

The parade committee reserves the right to accept or deny any entry. Entries must be appropriate for a family audience. If music is played, it must be Christmas themed music at all times.

Hobson said Santa will also make an appearance, riding on a city fire truck towards the end of the parade.

She said local schools, churches, industries, businesses and local clubs and organizations are encouraged to participate.

Applications are available on the Pell City Chamber of Commerce’s website. Applications are also available at the Pell City Chamber Office, which is in the Municipal Complex Building, 1000 Bruce Etheredge Parkway, Suite 105.
