Age: 25

Hometown: Talladega

Occupation/company: General farmer

How long on the job: Going on 25 years, I’ve been helping since I could walk.

What does the job entail: Keeping the land plowed and clear of weeds during the off season. I try and do all my planting around Good Friday if the weather permits. I get my seed from the County Exchange.

Average salary or salary range: Differs from year to year because the prices on produce fluctuates so much. It’s definitely not a boy’s game.

How did you get into this line of work: I was taught by my father who was taught by his father the ins and outs of farming.

What is your job’s “cool” factor, what do you enjoy most: I like being able to get outside in the warm weather and being able to help feed people. I donate food to those in need when I can.

What’s something that people often misunderstand about what you do: A lot of people don't understand or overlook farmers. They take for granted that were out in the heat working to grow food for people.
