Local and renowned gospel group Dominion is hosting its annual celebration concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28.
The afternoon of praise and worship will be held at B.B. Comer Memorial High School at 801 Seminole Ave., Sylacauga.
This year’s event is titled “Giving Back.”
“The theme is mainly geared to saluting our families, fans and friends this year for their continued support of our ministry,” Dominion member Lettina Wilson said. “Our annual concert usually is a ticketed program, so to go along with the theme, we decided to make this year's concert absolutely FREE as a showing of our appreciation.”
Joining the group in this year’s communitywide celebration will be gospel recording artists Ray Holland and the New Boyz of Triumph of Sylacauga, the Gospel Voices of Hollins and Rev. Theangelo Perkins, pastor of Liberty Christian Center.
Minister Mary Thompson will serve as mistress of ceremonies.
“We will also be giving away door prizes and a few special recognitions will be presented,” Wilson said. “Guests can expect a good spirit-filled concert and fellowship.”
According to Wilson, the spirit-directed group, which debuted three years ago with its first CD release “In Due Time,” has continued its mission of “ministering in song and music that encourages and uplifts the soul.”
“There have been many changes during the three-year journey, but our vision remains the same,” Wilson said. “We want to pierce the heart and soul of people by spreading the gospel through song and music.”
In addition to the annual January celebration of praise, Dominionhas received and accepted numerous invitations throughout Alabama and Georgia.
Dominion is comprised of sisters Carmen Burns, Patricia Swain, Seretha Walton and Letinna Wilson.
The band, Power, which provides the accompanying melody, rhythm and beat, is made of up brothers Hubert Walton, Andre Swain, Nathaniel Seals Jr., Torrie Lee and Lafrederick Kirkland.
“If you are in need of a fresh anointing, then come and share in this year’s Giving Back,” Wilson said.
