LINCOLN -- A Lincoln family stitched together their family history to honor those who have served in the military.

The quilt is centered around Pvt. James L. Disspain, who served in World War I and died in France, just two months before Armistice Day. In all, the quilt honors 11 members of their family who have served in the military in all occupations from World War I through the Vietnam War.

The quilt itself features a mixture of sewing techniques and squares that were popular around the time of WW I. The family hopes to show the quilt at some of the area’s Veterans Day celebrations.
