SYLACAUGA -- Keith Smith is the featured artist at the August Art Exhibition at Comer Museum & Arts Center in Sylacauga.

You can view Smith’s "Grits and Poi" through Thursday, Aug. 30.  

Smith was born in Honolulu in 1953. The family moved to Montgomery in 1974. He has lived in Wetumpka since 1988. He retired from the Alabama Department of Transportation in 2013 after 30 years of service.

His artwork represents his birthplace, love of the ocean, fish and vivid colors. He enjoys painting whimsical subjects and landscapes, seeking to combine his past with the present and his love of Alabama and its abundant beauty.

The Artist's Reception will be Thursday, Aug. 16, from 6:30 - 8 p.m. Live entertainment will be by musician/songwriter Jim "Hoppy" Hopkins. Free admission. Food and beverages will be served. Donations are welcome.
