For the first time, Heritage Hall has dedicated the halls of its museum specifically to selected student artwork. The KidsART exhibit will be on display from now until Friday March 17. It includes works from Talladega City Schools and Ascension Leadership Academy.

Throughout the year, elementary students from Talladega’s four elementary schools have been learning about prominent artists, including Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Frida Kahlo as part of their arts enrichment program. Their selected works were directly inspired by the beloved artists.

Ascension students were inspired by various styles from all across the globe. Their pieces modeled popular types of art in countries such as Japan, Mexico, India and China.

The artwork has been divided into three categories: kindergarten, first and second grades; third and fourth grades; and fifth, sixth and seventh grades.

Ribbons were awarded to the top three and an honorable mention in each category, along with an overall “best in show” award.

The museum will host a special reception Sunday, March 12, from 2-4 p.m. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

Heritage Hall is at 200 South St. E. in Talladega.
