Jon Derek Wood was charged with theft of property in the first degree. 

TALLADEGA COUNTY -- A Harpersville man is being held on a $3,000 bond in the Talladega County Metro Jail after being arrested and charged with theft of property in the first degree.

Jon Derek Wood, 27, is accused of stealing a 2013 Suzuki four-wheeler from a resident on McGowan’s Ferry Road on May 30. According to Sgt. Mike Jones of the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office, the victim in the case had a video showing someone matching Wood’s description stealing the four-wheeler and posted the video to social media.

The vehicle was recovered Friday in Wilsonville, Jones said. Wood was arrested in Harpersville later the same day.

According to Metro Jail records, he was still behind bars Monday evening.

Theft of property in the first degree is a class B felony in Alabama, punishable upon conviction by two to 20 years in prison.
