PELL CITY -- Church leaders in Pell City joined together Saturday, holding the “Unity March 4 Change.”

Pastor Donald Gover of Life Family Worship Center said the event aimed to gather people together to reject systemic racism, inequality and injustice, and the purpose of the march was to bring the community together to talk about these issues.

The march began at First Baptist Church South and went down 19th Street to end at the St. Clair County Courthouse. The Pell City Police Department provided an escort for marchers down 19th Street.

Black and white clergy as well as youth and Pell City police Chief Paul Irwin spoke at the event, calling for ending racial injustice and for unifying all people.
