TALLADEGA -- First Bank of Alabama has announced the expansion of its operations with a new location coming to Ashland in early 2018, according to a press release.

Construction work started this week at the location on Highway 9, just 2 blocks east of downtown. A firm opening date will be announced soon. The full service location will offer lobby and drive-through service, an ATM and a full suite of banking products.

“First Bank of Alabama is excited about the opportunity to serve the citizens of Ashland and Clay County with our new location,” said Chad Jones, president and CEO, in the release. “With over 169 years of community banking experience, we are confident we can bring value to the community and provide products and services to make banking easier for our friends and neighbors.”

Founded in Talladega in 1848, First Bank of Alabama is the oldest continuously operating bank in the state. The bank has expanded from three to six locations in Talladega and Randolph counties since the acquisition of Bank of Wedowee earlier this year.

In addition to traditional banking services, First Bank also offers mobile banking and mobile deposit, and hosts an online education center where anyone in the community can learn about banking and how to manage money wisely.

“Our Ashland office will have an open and inviting feel,” Jones said. “We want this office to be a place where customers come to transact their banking business, but also where they feel comfortable discussing their financial plans and goals.

“Our goal is more than just opening new accounts, we believe in relationship banking, and we work with our customers to help them reach their financial goals.”

First Bank of Alabama expects to staff three to four full-time employees in the new location once opened. To learn more about the bank, visit
