TALLADEGA -- Talladega police have recovered two counterfeit $100 bills presented at two local business in as many days.
The first bill was presented by an unidentified male at the Allen Oil Station on Cherry Street at around 3:45 p.m. Monday. The subject attempted to buy cigarettes, but, according to Chief Jason Busby, the cashier recognized the bill as a fake and did not give the man any merchandise or any change.
The second bill was presented Tuesday evening a Beauty Nails on Haynes Street. In this case, a young woman successfully paid for services with one of the fake bills and was given change, according to Lt. Jimmy Thompson.
It was not immediately clear if the two bills might have come from the same batch, Thompson said. Unlike several bills recovered last year, these do not appear to be movie props.
