Pastor Mark and Tammie Deason

Pastor Mark and Tammie Deason

WEOGUFKA -- Estelle Community Church in Weogufka is honoring Pastor Mark Deason for 20 years of faithful ministry and service to our church.

The church held an anniversary celebration for Deason and his wife, Tammie, on Saturday.

We have been so very blessed to have a pastor who is filled with the Holy Spirit and has an unconditional love for God and His people. He has dedicated his life to preaching the Word and winning souls for Christ.

Pastor Deason began pastoral ministry July 19, 1998, in a small Baptist church called Estelle Baptist Church with 11 people in attendance at the first service.

Renovation of the church began with the upholstery of church pews, followed by a new sound system and sound room added in 1999.  The first church bus was an old 52-passenger school bus painted, lettered and put into service in 1999.

The baptistry was added in 2000 as well as a new fellowship hall (Bryant Hall), dedicated to Deacon Ocie and his wife, Eunice Bryant. Later that year, two new church buses were purchased, and in 2001, a new roof  was placed on the original church. A 1 acre lot was donated by John Green for church parking.

The original church grew to full capacity in 2003, and Pastor Deason received vision and direction from the Lord to expand the ministry. In December 2004, construction began on a new sanctuary, and in 2005, led by the Holy Ghost, Estelle Baptist Church became a non-denominational ministry, which is now known as Estelle Community Church.

In May of 2005, Estelle Community Church opened its new sanctuary, seating 400-plus people, and a new playground was built for our children. In 2007, a new two story annex was built for our youth and dedicated to Pastor Deason's grandmother, Gertie Lee Smith.

In 2009, Estelle Community Church aired on NBC 13 for one full year. In 2010, a balcony was erected with 150 added seats for church growth.

In 2011, Estelle Community Church built and launched a worldwide Christian network called The Pure Gospel Network. In 2012, vision for a prayer wall by Sis. Tammie Deason was received and built in our church.

In 2015, stage renovation with new lighting and towers was completed, as well as a new ladies facility, and a covered deck was built onto the kitchen. In 2016, the fellowship hall from the original church was completed, followed by a newly renovated youth hall in 2017.

In 2018, our church kitchen was fully renovated, and a brand new church van was purchased.

Over Pastor Deason’s 20 years of service to Estelle Community Church, uncountable souls were won, and church membership now exceeds hundreds.  During his time as a minister, he has had the honor to win both his parents and both his children to Christ, and baptized all of them.

Pastor Deason has spent countless hours visiting the sick and the homeless, as well as witnessing and testifying about God's amazing love to everyone he meets. Pastor Deason also loves music and shares this love by singing in his music group called The Latter Rain.

He has also played the role of Jesus in many of our dramas performed by "The Peacemakers Drama Team."  Estelle Community Church also shares God's love through dance performed by our dance team, "All for Him".

We have been so blessed to have Pastor Mark Deason, not only as a minister of the Gospel, but also as a friend to us all and a true servant of God.  Thank you so very much for all that you do. You are truly a man after God's own heart.
