Beverley Ann Champion facing felony theft charge

TALLADEGA -- An Eastaboga woman has been charged with felony theft from her employer, according to Talladega police Lt. Jimmy Thompson.

Beverley Ann Champion, 48, was arrested on a charge of theft of property in the second degree, Thompson said. Her initial court appearance was before Circuit Judge Julian King, who set bond at $5,000.

Thompson said Champion had worked at the Texaco Shop N Fill on Alabama 77 North. She is accused of stealing cash totaling $2,481.47 from the register between Sept. 28 and Nov. 17.

Theft of property in the second degree is a class C felony in Alabama, punishable upon conviction by one year and one day to 10 years in prison.

Incidentally, the cut off between theft of property in the second degree and theft of property in the first degree is $2,500.
