Whether your marriage is suffering, just beginning or on solid ground, “Together at the Springs” has something to offer that will make a difference in your relationship with your spouse.

The weekend marriage conference is set for Feb. 28 through March 1 at Shocco Springs Baptist Conference Center in Talladega. It is the first event of its kind for the conference center, which typically provides the facilities for others to host their own conferences.

“As an organization, we felt led to seriously look into programming some of our own events,” said Shocco Springs guest relations manager Lauren Cowart. “Over the last couple of years, we have noticed a decline in events focused on couples and marriage. The desire to begin programming events of our own, coupled with the lack of marriage-related conferences, led us to ‘Together at the Springs.’”

It is not too late to register for the conference, which is suitable for couples in all ages and stages of marriage, as well as engaged couples.

The event is “specifically designed to inspire you and your spouse to connect with Christ and one another,” according to its website, and will help couples “discover how to spiritually, emotionally, and physically connect in tangible and practical ways” through worship, general sessions and breakout study time.

The conference will be led by keynote speakers Dale and Jena Forehand of Stained Glass Ministries. The Forehands are sought-after speakers for marriage and family conferences and have been featured in Lifeway’s HomeLife magazine and on CBN’s “The 700 Club.”

According to their written testimony, the Forehands “know firsthand God’s power to transform a marriage that by all appearances is irreparably broken.”

The couple divorced in 1996 after eight years of marriage and, following a bitter custody battle, was granted joint custody. The joint custody arrangement proved providential in their reconciliation, and the Forehands remarried on Dec. 21, 1997, the same day their son prayed to receive Christ.

Cowart said the Forehands have a long history of attending and speaking at marriage events at Shocco Springs and had expressed a desire to host a marriage event there, so when the conference became a reality, Shocco Springs contacted them to assemble the right group of experienced speakers.

“They formed a dynamic leadership team consisting of Scott and Dawn Smith, Jeff and Wendy Mucci, and Jeremiah and Jean Castille,” Cowart said. “These breakout speakers will focus on topics related to how to spiritually, emotionally, and physically connect with Christ and your spouse.”

In a promotional video for the conference, Jena Forehand said she and her husband’s divorce and reconciliation led to a new motto for their family, and that is, ‘What we do, we do together.’ “And that’s why we love ‘Together at the Springs,’” she said, “because this weekend, you’re going to learn how to do life together. You’re going to learn how to do marriage together.”

Dale Forehand added that if couples will commit to the conference for two days, “your marriage is going to be changed. God is going to reveal to you in some amazing ways, and we believe something very special is going to happen here.”

Registration for the event is open through as late as Feb. 24, though couples are encouraged to sign up early as space is limited.

Early-bird pricing through Jan. 31 is $199 per couple for a one-night stay, or $248 for a two-night extended stay option through March 2. Starting Feb. 1, it is $248 for one night and $298 for two nights. A $99 deposit is required. The price includes lodging, meals and conference fees. Couples who stay for an additional night will enjoy free time at Shocco’s facilities, a pre-planned date night and worship services.

By the end of the weekend, Cowart said organizers “are praying couples leave empowered and equipped with a new hope and vision for their relationship with Christ and each other.”
