SYLACAUGA -- The March of Dimes march for babies in Sylacauga brought out a good crowd for a good cause. The event, expected to raise more than $10,000, was Saturday morning at Central Park across from Blue Bell Creameries. In addition to the participants, Sylacauga High School Future Business Leaders of America members helped make the event a big success. March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization that works to improve the health of mothers and babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. The organization was founded by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1938 as the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, to combat polio.
