TALLADEGA -- In honor of Deaf Awareness Month, the Talladega Regional Center of AIDB decorated the front lawn with hand carve-outs painted by students. Deaf and hard of hearing individuals communicate through the use of their hands in American Sign Language. The purpose of deaf awareness week, which began in 1951, is to increase public awareness of deaf issues, people and culture. To view the decorations, the Talladega Regional Center is in the Hackney Foundation House on Cherry Street in Talladega.
