TALLADEGA -- For another year, the Talladega Regional Family Life Center, next-door to Mt. Canaan Baptist Church on West Battle Street, hosted a Community Back-To School Jamboree on Friday, Aug. 2, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The event seeks to provide children of the community with much-needed school supplies and a day of fun-filled activities and good food that was free to all who attended.

The program this year was done in conjunction with the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Senior Service Program Health Fair, which provides vendors, services and information to seniors in the community.

The Talladega Optimist Club organized “Kutz for Kidz” together with local barbershops and salons to provide free haircuts to kids in preparation for the school year. Pledges from local shops were doubled by the Optimist Club in an effort to provide more cuts to more kids this year over the 50 provided last year.
