TALLADEGA -- Renowned comedian Rickey Smiley will serve as the guest speaker for the 2016 Talladega College Founders’ Day Convocation on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. The ceremony will take place inside DeForest Chapel on the campus of Talladega College.
As an entertainment mogul and comedic icon, Smiley is known for bringing laughter to audiences by his “magnetic and sharp style of humor.”
The Birmingham native is skilled in the ability to take everyday observations and spin them into hilarity.
Smiley has reached out to his followers through a variety of formats, including working as a radio personality, as a television host, an actor and stand-up comedian.
During his 26-year career in comedy, Smiley has been known for “keeping it clean” while maintaining a loyal fanbase.
“I love what I do and enjoy getting up every day with the expressed purpose of bringing joy into the lives of others through laughter,” Smiley said. “The greatest satisfaction I can receive is knowing that my talents are a form of escapism that brings happiness into so many deserving lives.
“To be blessed with sold-out tours, a successful radio show and two television platforms is more than I could ever have dreamed, and I am committed to working harder than ever to continue to be a positive influence and all-around best entertainer I can be.”
Away from the spotlight, Smiley is dedicated to enriching and empowering communities in which he aids daily. Smiley is an honored member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
