CHILDERSBURG -- Childersburg High School’s boys basketball team cruised past Sipsey Valley 80-36 in a Class 4A Central sub-regional game Tuesday night.
Childersburg (24-5) will take on Bibb County in the 4A Central Regional tournament in the Dunn-Oliver Acadome on the campus of Alabama State University on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Montgomery.
“It is another goal that we just met,” Childersburg head coach Johnny Johnson said. “We are the area champs, we won the sub-region and now we are heading to the Sweet 16. The kids are excited, and I am excited. Now we are going to see what we can do in the Sweet 16. It feels good on the boys side going with a great senior group.”
Childersburg jumped out to a 22-8 lead in the first quarter and took a 41-20 advantage into intermission. The Tigers increased their lead to 65-33 going to the fourth quarter.
Cam Morris led the way for Childersburg with 23 points. Tray Twyman scored 12, while Syheem Young added 10. KC Calhoun chipped in with seven.
