TALLADEGA COUNTY -- The Talladega County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of traffic counting equipment from the county road department, according to an incident and offense report.
The theft occurred between Oct. 2 and Nov. 5, according to the report, near the intersection of Woolfolk and Stockdale roads. According to Sgt. Mike Jones, a 5-foot steel chain and lock valued at $45 were damaged during the commission of the theft.
The items stolen were described as black MC5900 MetroCount tube counter and 60 feet of MetroCOunter rubber hose. The two items have a total value of about $1,300.
Jones said the items are usually laid across a piece of roadway to conduct traffic counts before paving projects.
As of Wednesday, there were no witnesses or suspects in the case.
