Former students of Weogufka School will gather for a sports reunion Saturday, July 12, at the Weogufka Center for Arts. Anyone who attended the school, cheerleaders, baseball players, basketball players or participants in any sport, are invited.
Former coach and principal Roy Green and Weogufka Center vice chairman Melvin Palmer will produce the third annual event.
Doors will open at 4 p.m., and Mississippi farm-raised catfish will be served at 5:30.
There will be team and individual free-throw contests, a hula hoop competition and a sock hop with disc jockey Fred Brooks, which will start after the contest.
There will also be a display table of memorabilia, and everyone is invited to bring their old Weogufka School items for display.
Dressing in 1950’s style is encouraged.
Tickets for the catfish dinner and all the events plus the sock hop are $15. Without dinner, tickets for the sock hop are $5.
Advance tickets will not be sold, but organizers would like to know how many people plan to attend.
Those planning to attend are asked to call Green at 256-249-0200 or Palmer at 256-249-8885, or the Weogufka Center for Arts office at 334-578-1364. Email can be sent to email@example.com.
