Two weekend storms downed a number of trees and caused some power outages in the Sylacauga area.

“The storms Friday night through Saturday morning, and the Sunday afternoon storms, were pretty-much concentrated in the south end of the county,” said LeighAnn Butler, planner with the Talladega County Emergency Management Agency.

Butler said there were multiple reports of trees and lines down and some power outages, but no injuries were reported.

“We believe the damage was due to straight-line winds,” she said.

Anna Robinson of 12 North Main Ave. said a tree fell on her house Sunday night.

“It’s on top of my house right now,” she said Monday afternoon. “It’s a 60-plus-foot tree I was told was planted in the 1930’s. It was planted between the sidewalk and the street on the right-of-way.”

Robinson spent part of the day Monday looking for someone to remove the fallen tree.
