“Our girls had a great effort tonight,” Alexandria coach Whitney Welch said. “We’ve played (Boaz) several times, and I was worried we would come in and be a little complacent, but I was very pleased with how we played.”
Alexandria won the first set 25-17, ending on a 4-0 run by the Valley Cubs. Taylor Spradley, who was named the tournament’s most valuable player, had three straight kills to end the first set. She finished with 11 kills and four blocks in the match.

The third set proved to be a little harder for the Valley Cubs with a little fatigue setting in. Boaz led 8-6 before the Valley Cubs tied it up at 9-9. The Cubs pulled away at the end of the match going on another 8-1 run to win the set and the championship.
