Alexandria's Kalee Johnson won the Class 4A-5A shot put at the state championship indoor meet Friday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Johnson's throw went 34 feet, 5.5 inches. She beat second-place Hayley Bradley of Wilson, whose throw went 32-2.

The meet will conclude today with more events.

White Plains 60, Faith Christian 23: The Wildcats improved to 10-14 as they closed out the home schedule.

They’ll play again Wednesday against host Hokes Bluff in the Class 4A, Area 12 tournament.

JCA opens the Class 1A, Area 10 tournament at Spring Garden on Monday against Faith Christian in the No. 4 vs. No. 5 game. The remaining games of the boys Class 1A, Area 10 tournament will be played in Anniston at Miller Gym.

Piedmont 55, Wellborn 45: At Piedmont, the Bulldogs led 22-7 after one quarter then Wellborn rallied with a 20-9 advantage in the second quarter.

Piedmont improved to 19-8 and will play Pleasant Valley on Monday at Glencoe in the opening game of the Class 3A, Area 10 tournament. Wellborn, the No. 1 team in Class 3A, Area 9, will play in the area championship game at home Friday.

Spring Garden 57, Ranburne 30: Class 1A power Spring Garden sailed past 2A Raburne, which was playing its 10th game in 13 days.
