At Choccolocco Park in Oxford’s Spring Sting tournament, Oxford finished second after winning three of four games Saturday.

Oxford beat Pleasant Valley 8-7, North Jackson 7-0 and Hewitt-Trussville 5-1 and lost to Spain Park 3-0 in the finals.

Cleburne County 4, Oxford 0; Cleburne County 8, Leeds 1, Cleburne County 4, Moody 3; Spain Park 7, Cleburne County 2: On Friday and Saturday, Cleburne County won its first three games before falling to Class 7A Spain Park in an elimination game.

Spain Park scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning to snap a 2-2 tie and added two insurance runs in the fifth.

Spain Park 10, Pleasant Valley 8; Hewitt-Trussville 5, Pleasant Valley 4; Oxford 8, Pleasant Valley 7: Pleasant Valley gave up 10 runs to Spain Park in the second and third innings but scored seven of their own during that stretch. The Raiders had a runner on third in the last inning.

Against Hewitt, the Raiders were the visiting team and went to extra innings tied 3-3. Pleasant Valley scored a run, but Hewitt won with two runs in the bottom half of the inning, scoring the winning run on a squeeze play.

In the Oxford game, the Yellow Jackets scored seven times in the top of the first. Pleasant Valley scored five times in the bottom of the last inning and had the bases loaded, but couldn’t push across the tying run.

Pleasant Valley (12-6-1) will play at home Tuesday against Glencoe at 5 p.m.
