Defending Calhoun County tennis tournament champion Oxford boys and Donoho girls are on top in this year’s event, too.

Friday’s action included doubles, while the singles matches are set for today at 8:30 a.m. Three points awarded for each win in doubles, while two points are given in singles.

In the boys’ field, Oxford won Nos. 2 and 3 doubles and finished runner-up at No. 1. That was good enough for 21 points. Donoho (12) was second, followed by Jacksonville (9), Faith Christian (0) and Pleasant Valley (0).

In the girls’ division, Donoho swept all three doubles crowns to score 24 points. Oxford (12) is second, followed by Faith Christian (6), Jacksonville (0) and Pleasant Valley (0).

In the semifinals, Oxford’s Chase White and Ben Reimer slipped past Jacksonville’s Jesse Wilson and Ben Patterson by winning a tiebreaker 7-2. In the finals, Reimer and White fell to Donoho’s Cooper Montgomery and David Hudson 11-9.
