Anniston High defeated Saks 53-49 on Thursday night to extend the Bulldogs’ season.
The victory came in the Class 4A, Area 8 boys semifinals at Handley High. Anniston clinched a berth in Saturday’s finals and a spot in next week’s sub-regionals. Saks’ season came to an end.

Class 5A, Area 13: Alexandria 42, Boaz 24: In a low-scoring semifinal at Etowah, Alexandria won to lock up a sub-regional berth and a spot in Saturday’s Area 13 finals. The Valley Cubs (18-7) will play either Etowah or Douglas.
Alexandria’s top performers:

Class 3A, Area 9: Weaver 72, Ohatchee 53: Ohatchee led 32-30 at halftime, but Weaver outscored the Indians 16-4 in the third quarter and cruised to an area tournament title.
The Bearcats will host a sub-regional game next week while the Indians hit the road.

Class 1A, Area 10: Spring Garden 87, Donoho 53: Dylan Rogers made 15 of 23 from the field to lead the Panthers past the Falcons and into Saturday’s area championship game against Sacred Heart, which beat Jacksonville Christian 104-48 on Thursday.
Spring Garden led 25-10 after one quarter and 46-23 at halftime. The Falcons showed some life in the third quarter, outscoring the Panthers 19-17, but Spring Garden closed the contest with a 24-11 run.

Trinity Christian 57, Conecuh Spring Christian 25: In a sub-state game at Union Springs, Trinity Christian scored a victory and earned a bid to the Alabama Christian Athletic Association Division II boys state basketball tournament.
Trinity Christian (10-9) will play a semifinal game Friday against a team to be determined.

Class 3A, Area 10: Glencoe girls 71, Piedmont 50: In the championship game, Piedmont fell, but the Bulldogs’ season isn’t over. Piedmont (20-9) will play Monday in a sub-regional game on the road.
